To celebrate 25 years in South Africa, Hyundai Automotive South Africa set out to mark the milestone where it matters most – at the dealership level, with the customers who have been part of the journey.

The objective was to create a nationwide celebration that felt both locally relevant and collectively powerful. Each dealership needed to shift from a place of transaction to a space of energy, appreciation, and connection.

The Approach

Matriarch was responsible for the full rollout across multiple dealerships, ensuring a consistent experience while adapting to different locations and audiences.

The focus was clear – bring energy into the space, create reasons for customers to stay longer, and make each dealership feel like it was part of something bigger.

The Experience

A simple yet effective visual mechanic drew in customers: guessing the number of balloons inside a Hyundai i10. This created an immediate point of interest and encouraged participation.

From there, the experience deepened. Test drives, finance applications, and vehicle purchases were incentivised with instant-value rewards, encouraging meaningful engagement with the brand.

A digital augmented reality experience allowed visitors to explore Hyundai’s 25-year journey in South Africa, adding a layer of storytelling and innovation.

Music, live performances, and food elements brought a constant sense of movement and atmosphere, shifting the dealership from a functional space into a destination.
